We were given the task of revamping ecommerce portal for a leading international jewelry group.
As a leading gold and diamond jewelry brand, the jewelry has achieved an iconic status within a few years of its launch in 2007. As we have understood, its website is not made as per the standards followed for Jewels online. Further study showed that there is some security and authenticity issues with the website.
The leading jewelry store could not afford to compromise on quality because its capacity to be a brand is essential to its continued existence. Hence with the pressure of the time crunch, we made an analysis of the current situation of their website and revamp it.
Based on our investigation and knowledge the jewelry website was not created in accordance with the criteria used for online jewellery. We discovered several key elements that were necessary to redesign and recreate the website in order to distribute material more effectively. There were some problems with the newly added website's validity, performance, and security. There are various problems raised by users, and some of them have been identified and enumerated. Based on our research, we narrowed down the problem statement for our design. The user needs to be able to easily find the products they want without having to search through dozens of products.
The present condition of the website is in the classic mode where only traditional wears are displayed. By adding more luxury and lifestyle to design categories with detailed explanations can elevate the elegance of the brand. Portrayal of more professional images of the jewelry designs based on it’s occasions can provide a clear idea for the customers based on their requirements.
From thorough research, we analyzed the current status of the website. Through user point, the following errors have been noted:
• Page breaks • No 404. • Site is critically slow. • Navigation is extremely difficult • No Dynamic choices/Operations Unplanned URLs. •Very generic theme presentations. •Product missing in different pages. •Product presentations are not attractive
From technical point of view, we found out that out of 100 Pages crawled- 78 pages have warnings, out of 100 Pages crawled -13 Pages broken, out of 100 Pages crawled -just 2 pages are healthy. This will make a severe impact in website performance. The health is analyzed to be below 80% having 187 critical errors and 1642 warnings.
Upon that no defined keywords are listed. Descriptions are not getting into Search Engines. Visitors are going down MoM Avg Visit Duration is low (Compared to the time required for a purchase).
The speed of the website is critically low. This makes difficulty in navigating and results in less visitors. Time for first Interactive content is 6.0s and fully loaded time is 30.8s compared to competitive websites, which is marginally higher.
As mentioned earlier, the product images are not available which has many aesthetical errors. Product Descriptions are the key for SEO, branding and metadata and its not even mentioned under the product images. The way the products are presented is also not attractive.
